Sushant Singh Rajput death: SC rejects CBI plea against Rhea Chakraborty.

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to reinstate a lookout notice against Rhea Chakraborty, actress and former partner of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This move comes after the Bombay High Court nullified the lookout circulars (LOCs) issued against Rhea, her brother Showik, and father Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty in connection with Sushant’s death case ¹.The CBI had challenged the Bombay High Court’s decision, but the Supreme Court deemed the petition “frivolous” and filed solely because Rhea is a high-profile individual ¹. Justice BR Gavai warned the CBI counsel that filing such petitions could result in exemplary costs.Rhea’s legal team had argued that the LOCs were unjustified and that Mumbai had jurisdiction over the case since both parties resided there and the investigation was conducted locally ¹. The court also questioned the grounds for issuing LOCs, emphasizing that an LOC should only be issued if there’s substantial proof of the accused evading arrest or court appearances. This development brings significant relief to Rhea Chakraborty, who had faced intense scrutiny and media attention since Sushant’s passing in 2020. The case remains ongoing, with many awaiting closure and justice for the late actor.
