Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Kuwait, where he addressed the ‘Hala Modi’ event, describing it as a “mini-Hindustan”.¹ This event is part of his two-day visit to Kuwait, which marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years.
During his speech, PM Modi interacted with the Indian community in Kuwait, which is the largest expatriate community in the country. He emphasized the strong historical ties and people-to-people linkages between India and Kuwait.²
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Kuwait, with discussions focusing on defense cooperation, trade, and investment. Kuwait is India’s sixth-largest crude supplier, meeting 3% of the country’s energy needs.³
PM Modi’s visit is seen as a significant step in enhancing India’s relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), of which Kuwait is the current chair.
