Mumbai Police confirms extortion threat to Shah Rukh Khan, steps up security

Mumbai Police has confirmed an extortion threat to Shah Rukh Khan and has stepped up security measures to ensure the actor’s safety. The threat came in the form of a phone call, where the caller demanded ₹50 lakhs and claimed to be standing outside Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat ¹. The caller identified himself as ‘Hindustani’ and threatened to kill the actor if the demand wasn’t met ¹.

Interestingly, the phone number used to make the threat call was reportedly stolen, according to the owner, who claimed to have lost his phone on November 2 and filed a police complaint the same day ¹. The Mumbai Police is taking the threat seriously and has registered a case under sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of the Bombay Natural Security Act ¹.

This isn’t the first time Shah Rukh Khan has faced death threats. Since the success of his films “Pathaan” and “Jawan” in 2023, his security has been heightened, with the Mumbai Police granting him a Y+ security team ¹. Other Bollywood celebrities, like Salman Khan, have also received death threats in the past ² ³.

The police are investigating the matter and have sent a team to Raipur to look into the incident ².
