Country’s Freedom, Constitution, Democracy in Danger: Kejriwal Targets BJP

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has issued a stark warning about the future of India’s democracy, constitution, and freedoms under the current BJP government. In a series of public addresses, Kejriwal emphasized that the actions and policies of the BJP are leading to a systematic erosion of the country’s democratic values and constitutional integrity.

Kejriwal’s critique centers on what he describes as the BJP’s authoritarian tendencies. He argues that the ruling party is intent on consolidating power by undermining democratic institutions and altering the constitution to suit its agenda. This, he claims, is a direct threat to the foundational principles of India as a democratic republic.

Erosion of Democratic Values

Kejriwal pointed to several instances where he believes the BJP has overstepped its bounds. He highlighted the use of investigative agencies against political opponents as a means of intimidation and control. According to Kejriwal, this misuse of power is indicative of a broader strategy to suppress dissent and weaken the opposition.

Threat to the Constitution

One of Kejriwal’s primary concerns is the BJP’s alleged intention to change the constitution. He argues that the party is unable to accept the constitution as it is, and is working towards amending it to concentrate more power in the hands of a few. This, he warns, would fundamentally alter the democratic framework of the nation, making it difficult to restore once dismantled.

Call for Unity

Kejriwal has called upon all opposition parties to unite against the BJP to protect India’s democracy. He believes that a united front is essential to prevent the BJP from achieving its goals and to safeguard the country’s democratic institutions and constitutional values.

Personal Sacrifices

In his speeches, Kejriwal has made it clear that he is willing to make personal sacrifices in this battle for democracy. He stated that he would continue to fight against the BJP’s policies and actions, even if it means stepping down from his position. He assured his supporters that his commitment to protecting India’s democratic values is unwavering.

Broader Opposition Concerns

Kejriwal’s concerns are shared by other prominent opposition leaders. For instance, former UP Governor Aziz Qureshi has echoed similar warnings, stating that if the BJP remains in power, it could lead to significant changes in the constitution that would destroy India’s democratic ethos. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also voiced her concerns about the BJP’s impact on India’s democracy and constitutional values.

As India approaches the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, these warnings and calls for unity among opposition parties are expected to intensify. The opposition aims to present a formidable challenge to the BJP, rallying public support to protect the nation’s democratic institutions and principles.
