The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday for the third time in a row, as the party secured a two-third majority by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly. The votes were counted for the 50 seats, which went to the polls in the northeastern state on April 19.
The remaining 10 seats were won by the saffron party uncontested. Of the 50 seats, the BJP has won 36. The National Peopleโs Party (NPP) bagged five seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured three seats while the Peopleโs Party of Arunachal won two. Three seats went to independent candidates while Indian National Congress opened its account with one seat.
