Bangladesh successfully defend U19 Asia Cup title after beating India

Bangladesh U19 successfully defended their title in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2024, defeating India U19 by 59 runs in the final match held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on December 8.¹ This victory marked Bangladesh’s second consecutive title win, showcasing their dominance in the tournament.

India U19, who opted to bowl first, struggled to contain Bangladesh’s batting lineup, which managed to post a respectable total of 198 runs in 49.1 overs.² MD Rizan Hossain played a crucial knock of 47 off 65 balls, while Farid Hasan Faysal scored 39 off 49 deliveries. Mohammad Shihab James chipped in with 40 off 67 balls, setting up a challenging target for India.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack, led by Azizul Hakim Tamim (3/8), Iqbal Hasan Emon (3/24), and Al Fahad (2/34), dismantled India’s batting lineup, restricting them to 139 runs in 35.2 overs. India’s skipper, Mohammed Amaan, top-scored with 26 runs off 65 balls, but the rest of the batters failed to convert their starts. Hardik Raj’s 24 off 21 balls was the only other notable contribution from India.
