In 3-year PLI push, phones, pharma, food dominate new jobs creation.

The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, launched by the government three years ago, has led to significant job creation in key sectors such as mobile manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. According to official data, these sectors have accounted for the majority of new job creation under the PLI scheme.

The mobile manufacturing sector has been a major beneficiary of the PLI scheme, with companies such as Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi setting up manufacturing units in India. This has led to the creation of thousands of new jobs in the sector. Similarly, the pharmaceutical sector has also seen significant investment and job creation under the PLI scheme.

The food processing sector has also been a major beneficiary of the PLI scheme, with companies such as PepsiCo, Nestle, and Britannia setting up manufacturing units in India. This has led to the creation of new jobs in the sector, particularly in rural areas. Overall, the PLI scheme has been successful in promoting job creation and investment in key sectors.

The government has set a target of creating 60 lakh new jobs under the PLI scheme over the next five years. With the scheme already showing promising results, the government is confident of achieving its target and promoting economic growth and development.
