The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids at 11 locations across West Bengal as part of its investigation into the revival of the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation ¹. The raids, which took place on Tuesday, targeted the homes of suspected overground workers who are believed to be providing support to Maoist leaders in carrying out Naxal activities.

During the searches, the NIA seized incriminating evidence, including documents, electronic devices, pamphlets, magazines, and handwritten letters ¹. These materials are expected to provide crucial insights into the Maoist conspiracy and its network in the region.

The investigation is focused on an alleged plot hatched by the Polit Bureau, Central Committee members, cadres, and sympathizers of the CPI (Maoist) to revive, expand, and propagate its ideology in states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and others in northern and eastern India ¹. So far, six people, including top Maoist leaders Prashant Bose, Pramod Mishra, and Sabyasachi Goswami, have been arrested in connection with this case.

The NIA has named a total of 13 top Maoist leaders and others in the FIR, which was originally filed in April 2022 at the NIA Police Station in Ranchi under various sections of the IPC and UAPA Act ¹.
